Steph Rae Moran was born and raised in San Diego, California. She studied English, with a creative writing emphasis in poetry, at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. While at the university, Steph’s poetry was published (under her maiden name, Stephanie Pollycutt) in Byzantium: A Literary Annual (Vol. 6 and Vol. 7) and in Watershed (Vol. 20, No. 2, p. 116).

After college, Steph worked in scientific journal publishing. Later she transitioned to marketing/business development. She promoted herself to stay-at-home mom when her oldest child entered elementary school.

Reading brings her great joy, and from an early age to the present day, she has always kept a novel close at hand. A glance at her bookshelf reveals what she most enjoys: fantasy, mystery, and historical fiction intermingled with classics and poetry. She is a lover of libraries, bookstores, museums, lattes, yoga, and travel. Steph lives in Southern California with her husband and their two children. She is currently writing a folklore-inspired novel.
